Last month, we equipped 25 contestants with a battery of Dried Chilies and charged them with creating an original recipe using at least one of the chile varieties. The challengers had a couple weeks to come up with something mouth-watering and send their recipes to us. They sure delivered!
We put their creations to a vote here on the Marx Foods blog, and it is finally time to announce the champion. The recipe from Clearly Delicious for Chocolate Azteca Cupcakes was the readers’ favorite recipe in the polls. The spoils for Clearly Delicious are more chilies (because once you learn how to use chilies, they’ll make their way into every recipe you make…) and a second sampler of her choosing: a sausage sampler, a large pate sampler, a truffle oil trio, a large cured meats sampler, a Japanese delicacies sampler, or a mixologist sampler.
To spice things up even more, there is a second champion in this challenge! This was decided by an internal vote by the challengers and some of our staff members. The second victor is: Foodalution’s Tres Chiles Chocolate Cake with Hibiscus Habanero Caramel! But we have to say it was a close race…only one vote separated Foodalution and The Joy of Caking’s Kickin Habanero Cheese Crackers. So, Joy of Caking, we tip our hats to you.
While only two bloggers get to claim the bragging rights and tasty samplers, all of the bloggers came up with some very innovative recipes that you don’t want to miss. Check out this page to find all of the recipes from this challenge.
Congratulations to Clearly Delicious and Foodalution, and thanks to everyone who participated!

Wow! How cool is this! I have broken a losing streak of 36 years with this contest! Thank you Justin and Marx Foods…. Looking forward to entering more of your contests. But let the truth be told, I am even more excited about my tasty goodies. Thanks again for the opportunity! And thank you for voting for my cake.
