Elderflower Sidecar

The Sidecar is a cocktail traditionally made with cognac, lemon juice and orange liqueur (such as Cointreau, Grand Marnier or another triple sec); but in this recipe, we substituted elderflower syrup for the orange liqueur and the result was a sweeter, smoother cocktail.

We rimmed the glass with pansy sugar, which we made by dehydrating edible pansies, then pulsing them with granulated sugar in a food processor. The pansy sugar has an added sweetness from the flowers, and the visual effect is quite unique.

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 oz Cognac
  • 1/2 oz Elderflower Syrup
  • 1/2 oz Lemon Juice
  • Pansy Sugar for the rim

DIRECTIONS

1

Wet the rim of a martini glass with lemon juice and coat with pansy sugar.

2

Fill a mixing glass with ice.

3

Add cognac, elderflower syrup & lemon juice and shake with a cocktail shaker.

4

Strain into your martini glass and enjoy.
