Until a few years ago, we only sold to fine restaurants, so a lot of our order sizes are restaurant-style boxes…a little bulky for the home cook. We’re constantly trying to get those case weights down for your convenience, but bulk buys are great for getting the best quality at the best price.
If you’re eyeing a bulk goodie on the Marx Foods store, and need suggestions specific to that product, contact us. We’ll help you come up with some ideas!
In the meantime, here are some suggestions for making the most of your bulk purchases:

You like good food…probably a lot of your friends and family like good food too. Why not go in with some people and split a case? Everybody pays less, everybody gets good food!

If you and the food fanatics on your speed dial can’t agree on the same product, samplers are totally the way to go – there’s something for everyone!
Entertain or Share the Wealth – Give the Gift of Mmmm!
With food this good, it doesn’t take a lot of fancy wrapping to make a great gift. Alternatively, throw BBQs or dinner parties to use up your perishable delicacies.
Invite your neighbors over to sample what they’re smelling over the fence and they’ll love you forever.
Getting Late? Dehydrate!
If you’re concerned about running out of time to eat your order fresh wild mushrooms or bulk fresh herbs, drying them is often the way to go. Dried stinging nettles make tea that’s very good for you.
Home dehydrators are often the best choice (though some herbs air-dry well when hung) and they’re cheaper & easier to use than you think. In a pinch you can use a very low temperature oven to dehydrate.
Tips: Thick mushroom varieties like lobster mushrooms and porcinis should be sliced before drying. Dry herbs on the stem, then pull the leaves off for storage.
Canning – Great for Storage, Great for Gifts!
Homemade canned (jarred) goods are the new favorite foodie gift, with canning classes and clubs springing up all over. Turn extra citrus fruit into marmalade & curds, make exotic fruit or berry preserves, turn veggies into pickles (pickled ramps will blow your mind).
Next time you need a quick gift, put a nice ribbon or a fancy label on a jar from your stash and you’re done!
