The Japanese Citrus Juice Reviews Are In!

Last month we sent samples of yuzu juice, kabosu juice & sudachi juice to a group of bloggers to solicit their opinions. Their challenge was to write the most thorough review possible.

The best reviewer was to receive yuzu marmalade, green yuzu kosho or red yuzu kosho (their choice), and a bottle of white soy sauce.

Ok, Check It Out’s review gets the top spot. Bill did a flavor analysis of each juice comparing his impressions to the flavor descriptions provided on the label. But he didn’t stop there.

He went on to put them in no less than twelve sweet, savory and cocktail recipes, each presented with just enough info for you to make them at home. He tasted each recipe and analyzed whether they were a good use of that particular juice.

Interestingly enough, he found that adding a pinch of citric acid to the juices accentuated their individual characteristics.

As great and astonishingly thorough as the Ok, Check It Out review was, three other reviews were right on its heels:

Hye Thyme Café’s review included a blind taste test of each of the three juices and incorporated them into five innovative and delicious looking recipes, including Kabosu Parklava (aka baklava), and, believe it or not, a yuzu-glazed snack mix!

Leslie Uhl can always be relied upon to bring great photos to the field, and her juice review was no exception. She ran the juices by a panel of tasters before moving on to recipe testing with a cake, a vinaigrette, a marinade and a cocktail.

Snippets of Sue turned all three juices into color-coded, white chocolate covered, liquid-filled cordials. She then fed them to friends, family, and co-workers, recording their thoughts on flavors and usage options. Great idea!

    Thanks Justin for including At Home with Rebecka in the review process and the sample juices! I’m really enjoying what’s left of the juices after the review! I’ll be making a shrimp ceviche next week for another contest using Yuzu juice…YUM! I know it will be fabulous!
