Morel season is almost upon us…the wonderful yet fleeting time of the year when the birds are chirping, daffodils are blooming and the sweet smell of morels fills the air. To celebrate, we’re back with our fifth installment of our deliciously enticing Morel Recipe Challenge.
Bloggers, get your ovens ready because the challenge this year involves baking. You don’t need to make morel cookies or pastries (unless you want to), but baking needs to be the primary method of preparation for your recipe.
If you’ve played before, you know the prize at stake is 2lbs of fresh morels. Only one winner from this challenge will get the goods!
Here’s how it works:
1. Email your name, mailing address & blog URL to Katie at kwallace(at)marxfoods(dot)com by Thursday, 4/4. Katie & Justin will pick the participating bloggers and ship them each a sample of dried morels by Friday, 4/5.
2. Use the dried morels to create an original recipe that is cooked in the oven. Post the recipe on your blog by Sunday, 4/28 and e-mail Katie the link to your post.
3. Links to all submitted recipes will be posted on the Marx Foods blog as a public poll.
4. The ultimate winner will be selected via a combination of the poll results and an internal vote amongst the participating bloggers.
Each blogger will pick their two favorite recipes (besides their own), giving each recipe they choose a point. The top three vote-getters from the public blog poll will also have an additional two points added to their score. The blogger with the most total points will win!
When fresh morel mushroom season has officially begun, we will ship the winning blogger their 2lbs of fresh morels. And to sweeten the pot for everyone, the winning blogger will nominate one of the bloggers from the contest to receive an extra shipment of 4oz of dried morels.
